          Annie Gersh

Annie made it to nationals for middle school debate, and is currently is forming a youth Advisory Board for local congressmen. Annie collected about 1,000 books from her community and started a library in a school in Newark, New Jersey (where her sister teaches). Annie realized that many girls her age can not go to school because they spend most of their time doing chores around their houses; also they are getting married to men about two to three times their age. Annie Gersh started the first ever Girl Up club at her school in Los Angeles, California. In spring of 2013, Annie traveled with Girl Up to Guatemala and met with many adolescent girls in United Nations programs, including survivors violence for education. After being in Guatemala, Annie set up a webpage and donated money she received on her birthday to Girl Up. Annie has made a big impact on the Girl Up foundation.
